Join the Auckland Chamber Orchestra for an engaging programme inspired by Les Six, the influential group of French composers who brought clarity, wit, and fresh musical ideas to early twentieth-century Paris.
A highlight for harpists is Germaine Tailleferre's Sonata pout Harpe, composed in 1953 for Spanish harpists Nicanor Zabaleta. The three-movement neo-classical work blends playful march rhythms, a slow, dreamy movement with rhythms of the habanera, and a virtuosic perpetuum mobile finale. Ingrid Bauer performs the work in this concert.
