On a sunny weekend in March this year around 70 musicians and music lovers gathered at Cable Bay Holiday Park in beautiful Cable Bay near Nelson. Our little festival is in its third year, thus Cable Play 3!  We spent a gorgeous relaxed weekend sharing unplugged music and song in many forms. 

A new addition to the festival this year was a Harp Circle led by Maria Oxnam and Cherie Maffey. They brought about 6 harps with them and made everyone feel welcome. With gentle guidance the participants were shown some ways to improvise using harps. It was hands-on and we all loved the experience of plucking some beautiful sounds. For myself, this enigmatic instrument had been demystified. Wow, is that how those beautiful sounds are produced? Some stayed behind to find out more and possibly purchase their own harp! Thank you so much Maria and Cherie. 

Next year Cable Play 4 will be on the weekend of the 1st to the 3rd of March 2024. Harp enthusiasts at all levels are warmly invited to come and share their passion and skills with us.
